Cherry blossoms (or sakura in Japanese) are perhaps Japan's most famous visual motif!
After the earthquake/tsunami in 2011, a lot of trees were stripped of their branches and leaves but remained upright. Everyone thought the salt water had killed them, especially when they didn't put out new leaves or flowers in the first few years.
But a few years later, blooms started appearing in places that everyone thought was impossible! It was incredible to find life in a place that had looked barren for so long.
Show off these beautiful pieces of artistry and remember that hope can bloom in even those places that look the most barren.
