Worldwide Shipping

Flat rate international airmail shipping:  All orders only $5!  Approximately 7-21 days. 

  • Please note this does not include a tracking number and we cannot insure your purchase nor guarantee its arrival. Problems have been rare but we cannot be responsible for postal delivery errors. For insured service, please choose Express Mail Service.
  • International airmail usually takes 7-21 days, but we cannot guarantee an arrival date.  Leave more time during the holidays.

  • We will send you a tracking number the day after your order is placed.
  • Normal EMS takes 5-12 business days between Japan and North America. (Check here for worldwide service estimated times). However, EMS/Nozomi Project cannot guarantee the arrival time of your gifts. Please keep in mind that the holidays may mean longer shipping times, and occasionally packages may get "stuck" for unknown reasons while going through customs. 
  • EMS in the United States is handled by the U.S. Postal Service. They will attempt to deliver a package to an address one time, and if no one is home for delivery they will leave a note and take it to the nearest post office until the recipient can pick it up. After about one month, if left unattended, the package will be returned to us. Please be sure that you pick up your package after an attempt is made to deliver it. We cannot take responsibility for packages that are unattended after a delivery attempt is made. Thank you!

Japan Shipping

Regular Airmail = $3. (This does not include a tracking number and we cannot insure your purchase. Orders over $300 please use Yu-Pak service. Usually takes 1-3 days for airmail within Japan.)

Yu-Pak = $7. (insured Japanese mail; usually takes 1-2 days)

When are items shipped?

Nozomi Project ships out our orders within 1-2 business days on Tuesday through Friday (JST). Orders placed after Friday 2 pm (JST) will be sent out the following Tuesday. Nozomi Project is closed on most national Japanese holidays, as well. 

How are my gifts packaged?

All orders are wrapped in tissue paper and shipped out in a sturdy cardboard box, with your favorite Nozomi items each enclosed in a blue organza gift bag with our hand-signed Nozomi cards.  (Items sent to an address different from the shipping address will include a special gift receipt.  If you'd like a gift card enclosed, please write your note in the comments section of your order). 

What if I want my gifts sent to a different address? 

Upon checkout there is an area for you to fill in a desired shipping address.  Please note we can only send an order to one address. 

Do you ship to APO addresses?

EMS (Express Mail shipping) does NOT ship to APO addresses.  We can send to an APO by regular airmail within Japan.  If you wish to send a package by EMS outside of Japan, we need to have your physical address.  If you live in Japan and would like something sent by YuuPak (Japanese express mail), we MUST have your physical mailing address. If we do not get a physical address, we will send packages by regular airmail to your APO address. As with our other regular airmail shipping, we cannot be responsible for the package since it does not come with a tracking number.

What if my purchase is a gift? 

For items that you are sending as a gift to someone, please check the gift box upon checking out. If we know it is a gift, we will remove the price tag and include a gift receipt that does not include the price.  All of our items are sent out in an elegant blue organza bag. If you would like a note included, please write this in the comments section as well and we will include a note with the gift.

How do I pay for jewelry if I live in Japan? 

There are several options. Note that we have a Japanese website, www.nozomiproject.jp.  If you have a credit card or Paypal account, these will work fine and your credit card company will do the yen conversion for you if necessary. If you want your order sent to an address different than your mailing address, please make a note of the alternate shipping address in the comment section. Those living in Japan can also pay by postal money order, or 銀行振り込み(ゆうちょ銀行. Choose this option when you check out. Then please pay at the post office or a convenience store within two business days. We will ship your order once we receive notice of payment. We will need to cancel your order if we do not receive payment within five days of when you placed the order. Return/Exchange Policy

At the Nozomi Project, customer satisfaction is our goal!  To ensure your satisfaction, we offer a generous guarantee, return, and replacement policy.  

Gift Return Policy: Give worry-free Nozomi gifts to your friends and family! Gift recipients can get a store credit by following our return policy below. Our extended holiday return policy includes all purchases made from November 1 through December 31, and may be returned within 45 days or by January 31, whichever date is later. Return exclusions include Nozomi Project gift cards, outlet items, limited items (like our 2016 Anniversary necklace, etc.) and Christmas ornaments.

How to make a return by purchaser:

  • Returned item must be without damage and in its original packaging
  • Reciept included
  • Received within 45 days of date of purchase.
  • Customer will pay for the return shipping costs and ensure that it is packaged sufficiently with bubble wrap so that damage does not occur in transit. (Please understand that if the return package is not insured, we cannot be responsible if it does not arrive.)  Return address is below. 
  • We will credit the original cost of your item to your credit card. Note: Paypal returns can only be made by issuing a Nozomi online credit or through a check sent from our U.S. Nozomi representative.   

What happens if my necklace breaks? 

Any pottery is fragile, and needs to be handled with care to avoid chipping or breaking. Please keep your Nozomi product dry and away from heat, cold, and chemicals. If the shard should come loose from its mounting, you can reapply it with epoxy or send it back to us and we will repair it for free. Please note the customer is responsible for sending shipping costs but we will pay for the shipping to return it to you. For lost or broken pendant pieces, we are happy to replace it with a similar pottery pendant. Because each piece is unique, we cannot match pendant designs, colors, or shapes exactly). Please use the shipping information below to return it and/or email us a photo (nozomitohoku@gmail.com).  

 We will replace other Nozomi jewelry parts (chains, wire, clasps, leather, etc.) broken through normal wear that have been purchased within one year. For items purchased greater than one year previously, we are happy to repair your jewelry for a fair cost. Please follow instructions below for returned jewelry.

We stand by our products and want you to be happy with your Nozomi purchases. Please let us know how we are doing!

How should I take care of my silver jewelry? 

  • Please keep your one-of-a-kind necklace in the enclosed ziploc bag when it's not being worn. Please handle your necklace carefully to avoid your accessory from chipping or breaking. For the wire-wrapped necklaces, all wire, while firm, can be bent. Please avoid scenarios that can crush or catch the delicate wire-wrapped jewelry (beware of woven sweaters, scarves, etc. that may “catch” your necklace).
  • Avoid direct sunlight, excessive heat, cold, or area with extreme temperature changes (ie-near windows,vents,ducts).
  • Your special piece is handmade; please do not pull or tug on jewelry parts.
  • Avoid perfumes, makeup, hairspray, harsh chemicals or household cleaners.
  • Remove when applying hairspray, perfume, chlorine, lotion or any skincare/makeup.
  • Please keep away from moisture. Do not swim wearing jewelry.

Other Questions

Is there any concern about radiation? 

Ishinomaki is three hours north of Fukushima and is NOT in the radiation zone so there are no concerns about radioactive materials.

Are you worried about running out of pottery left by the tsunami? 

We are incredibly thankful for the hundreds of volunteers who have helped gather and clean pottery around the Ishinomaki coast over the past two years. Believe it or not, we are still finding broken pottery, though it isn't as prevalent as it was earlier. We have many, many crates stacked in a shed behind the Nozomi House. In addition, we also have a second-hand store that saves broken pottery for us. They have told us that there are still people only now going through their possessions from the earthquake/tsunami and bringing it into the store. They are donating to us the broken/unusable dishes that they receive.

What are your working hours? 

We are usually working at the Nozomi Project Tuesday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm. We are closed on most Japanese holidays.

Can we visit the Nozomi Project? 

We love visitors! All instore shoppers receive a 5% discount of all of your purchases, except for our kimono bags. We really appreciate if you let us know ahead of time your desire to come (we sometimes have staff meetings, etc.) We also prefer that guests come between our working hours of 9:00am – 4:00 pm.

Who benefits from the funds and support received by the Nozomi Project? 

All funding received will go to the Nozomi Project women and the continuation of the Nozomi Project. Team Expansion (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) is receipting the U.S. gifts for the Nozomi Project. Any additional questions can be sent to us at support@nozomiproject.com
